Gareth and his team began our build in May 2024, and we moved in on December 20th—yes, just in time for Christmas! That is often the dream, but rarely the reality. After a well-deserved break, the team returned in January to complete our decking and landscaping.

Our home is a modern 250-square-metre, four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom dwelling with an internal-access double garage. It features metal roofing, Hardies exterior cladding, five separate decking areas, a walkway structure, and glass balustrading. Plastered front fencing and garage base are in concrete block, with prestressed concrete beams and a poured slab floor. Gareth also tackled some landscaping including a solution for the tricky slope we were not quite sure how to approach.

Starting the build in May was not ideal—foundations on a sloping site during a wet, slippery winter is a tough ask—but Gareth and his team didn’t let the mud slow them down. From the outset, their "can-do" attitude was obvious, and Gareth's skill and experience ensured that every challenge was met with practical solutions and calm efficiency.

And there were challenges, plenty of them. From a suspended concrete garage floor (unusual in residential builds) to striking an old, buried retaining wall not once but three times during foundation work. Yet every design, site, and weather-related obstacle was resolved without drama.

Gareth’s experience, local knowledge, and strong connections in the building industry were invaluable. His excellent relationships with suppliers and subcontractors saved us both time and money. From day one to the finishing touches, Gareth and his team were on-site daily, working diligently. There were no unexplained delays, no radio silence—just consistent, steady progress that gave us real peace of mind.

Gareth was, in a word, unflappable. He even let me collaborate with him and the crew, which is something that might rattle the average builder, but not Gareth. His patience and professionalism were unwavering.
